Port Jervis High School Teacher Accused Of Having Relationship With Student
MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- An Orange County high school teacher is accused of having a physical relationship with a student.
State police said they received a complaint that Ashley Kaufmann, 30, an art teacher at Port Jervis High School, had a relationship with a 16-year-old boy.
Kaufmann was arrested and charged with forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. Police explained that the forcible touching charge stems from alleged physical contact that the student could not legally have consented to because of his age.
The teacher was released and issued a ticket to appear in Town of Deerpark Court on Aug. 5.
