NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) There will be a whole lot of slobbering, tail wagging and barking going on in Brooklyn on Sunday, August 2nd as "Bark In The Park" returns for the 8th year to the home stadium of the Brooklyn Cyclones, Municipal Credit Union Park.

This annual event brings New Yorkers and their canine companions to the ball game to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption as they cheer on the Brooklyn Cyclones, who will battle the Batavia Muckdogs. Doors open 11:30 a.m; first pitch is at 1:00 p.m.

A portion of the game's ticket sales will be donated to the Alliance for New York City's Animals, a private non-profit charity that works with more than 150 partner rescue groups and shelters to offer important programs and services that save the lives of homeless animals in the five boroughs.

"The Alliance is grateful to the Brooklyn Cyclones for their continued generosity, and to everyone who joins us in celebrating pets as a part of the family", said Alliance President Jane Hoffman.

The Alliance will host a mini pet adoption fair featuring adoptable animals from Sean Casey Animal Rescue; free photo ops for pets and their people; free personalized pet tag giveaways; dog licensing by NYC Department of Health; and an emergency preparedness clinic, presented by New York City Emergency Management/Ready New York, where owners can get important information on steps they should take to protect their pets in emergencies.

Prior to the first pitch, dogs and their owners are invited to take the field to strut their stuff in a "parade of pooches." The Cyclones will provide water for the dogs in the bleacher seats. In addition, all dog-owners attending the game will have the opportunity to enter a raffle with the chance to win two tickets to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY. Frisbee-chasing canines from Pawstars with Erich Steffensen will provide on-field entertainment between innings.

Tickets are $10 for one person and up to two dogs for seating in the bleacher section. To purchase tickets in advance, call (718) 382-2604. Tickets will also be available on the day of the game at the Cyclones' box office.
