On WFAN: Jerry Reese Had 'Good' Conversation With JPP; Giants Aren't Mad

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- It's unclear what the future holds for Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.

The two-time Pro Bowler severely injured his hand in a fireworks accident on July 4, and there's been no indication of when he'll return to the field. He's not at Giants training camp.

On Monday morning, Giants general manager Jerry Reese told WFAN co-hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton that he spoke with Pierre-Paul on Sunday.

When Boomer asked the GM if he could speak about what the two discussed, Reese didn't disclose much.

"The short answer is no," Reese told Boomer & Carton. "It's a personal conversation and I want to keep it private between him and I. I'm just going to leave it at that ... We had a good conversation."

Reese told the radio duo that he's been in contact with the 26-year-old's camp.

It's been widely reported that the Giants have had difficulty getting in contact with Pierre-Paul since the unfortunate incident. Reese clarified on Monday that the lack of communication hasn't bothered him.

"It didn't rub me the wrong way," Reese said. "You have to think about it like this, Craig. When somebody has a catastrophic, traumatic incident like that ... it's life-changing what happened to him, to a young man. It was an accident. When something like that happens, you really don't want to see anybody. I get it. We're not pissed off.

"We're not mad about it. We were just trying to say, 'Look, we're here for you. We want you to get well. Any resource we can give you, let us know.' That's what we were trying to do."

As for when JPP will meet with the team, Reese told Boomer & Carton that nothing is planned at this time.
