Yankees Put Ackley On DL With Lumbar Strain

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Dustin Ackley's career in pinstripes has taken a detour – to the disabled list.

Acquired last week from Seattle for a pair of minor leaguers, the veteran infielder/outfielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with a right lumbar strain, the team announced.

Ackley went 0-for-3 in two games for the Yankees over the weekend and is hitting .212 with six home runs and 19 RBIs overall.

To replace Ackley on the roster, the Yankees called up right-hander Caleb Cotham from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Cotham appeared in one game with the Yankees earlier this season, striking out four over 1 2/3 innings.
