Sources: NYPD Sergeant Charged With Having Affair With Teen Girl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New York City police sergeant was arrested in Brooklyn Wednesday and charged with rape and child sex-related crimes in connection with an alleged affair with a teenage girl, sources told CBS2.

Sgt. Joel Doseau, 43, was arrested around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 94th Precinct, which includes Greenpoint and parts of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, police said.

He was charged with seven counts of rape, one count each of use of a child under 17, using a child under 17 in a sexual performance, five counts of promoting a sexual performance, 11 counts each of sexual misconduct and sexual abuse, and three counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17, police said.

Sources told CBS2 the sergeant met the girl when she was 15. It was not clear how long the relationship lasted, but it dated back to 2008 and involved only the girl, sources said.

The sexual performance charge is the result of the girl allegedly sending Doseau inappropriate pictures, sources said.
