Police: Homeless Man Arrested In Manhattan Hate Crime Attack
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A homeless man has been arrested in connection with a hate crime attack in Manhattan, police said Thursday.
Zin McDade, 29, has been charged with felony assault, felony assault as a hate crime, aggravated harassment as a hate crime, assault and harassment, police said.
On July 11, police said McDade approached a 19-year-old woman outside 109 East Broadway.
The two got into a verbal dispute and McDade made anti-Muslim statements before spitting on and punching the woman in the face, police said. He then fled down Eldridge Street, police said.
The woman suffered a fractured jaw and was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition.
Police had previously released surveillance video and a sketch of the suspect.
