Man Struck, Killed By L Train At First Avenue

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Service on the L Train into and out of Manhattan was halted for about an hour Friday night, after a man was struck and killed by a train at First Avenue.

The man was hit by the train around 9:18 p.m. at the First Avenue and 14th Street subway station, on the cusp of the East Village and Stuyvesant Town, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority told WCBS 880.

The man is dead, police said.

Following the incident, service was suspended on the L Train between the Eighth Avenue terminal on the cusp of Chelsea and the West Village, and the busy Bedford Avenue stop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Service resumed at 10:18 p.m., the MTA said.
