Federal Warning: Some Jeep SUV's Can Roll Away When In Park

WASHINGTON (CBSNewYork) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a warning Tuesday that some Jeep sport-utility vehicles can roll away after drivers put them in park.

The agency said it is investigating Grand Cherokees from the 2014 and 2015 model years. The vehicles are equipped with an electronic gear selector system that is made by pressing a shifter paddle forward or backward rather than along a gate path like most gearshifts.

A total of 14 drivers have issued complaints about the vehicles, including five crashes and three injuries.

The investigation covers 408,000 Grand Cherokees. Owners should contact their dealers with questions.
