Hundreds Of Long Island School Bus Drivers Might Strike Wednesday
RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Schools and parents in dozens of Long Island school districts are being warned that bus drivers could strike beginning Wednesday.
About 1,200 drivers and Ronkonkoma-based Baumann & Sons, one of Long Island's largest school bus operators, are locked in a dispute over wages, WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.
Drivers currently earn $11 to $13. One driver, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that is not a livable wage.

"First of all, we don't really work full-time," he said. "Most of us work less than 30 hours a week. It's a lot of responsibility."
Negotiations are ongoing, but the driver said he thinks "most likely there will probably be a strike."
"The company doesn't want to seem to want to give in on anything," he said.
