Police Release Sketch In Brooklyn Shooting That Wounded Cuomo Aide
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police released a new sketch Wednesday of a man wanted for questioning in a gang shooting that left an aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo wounded by stray bullet.
Carey Gabay, 43, first deputy general counsel at the Empire State Development Corp., was shot in the head Monday during a pre-dawn party celebrating the West Indian Day parade in Brooklyn.
Around 3:40 a.m., Gabay was walking north on Bedford Avenue between Sullivan Place and Montgomery Street, when multiple shots were fired in front of 1680 Bedford Ave., police said.
Investigators said one gunman was shooting from the street while a second fired from the deck area of the Ebbets Field Houses. Gabay was hit in the head by a stray bullet as he dove between parked cars for safety.
Gabay was struck in the head and rushed to Kings County Hospital Center, where he remained in critical condition late Wednesday, police said.
Witnesses at the scene provided a description of a man who was at the location and was wanted for questioning, police said.
He was described as a 19- to 20-year-old black male wearing a white T-shirt, black pants and a Jamaican flag around his neck, police said.
On Tuesday, Cuomo said his aide who was wounded in the crossfire was "not doing well."

Cuomo called Gabay, a Harvard-educated lawyer, "an outstanding public servant'' who joined his administration in 2011 because "he wanted to make a difference."
"He could have done anything with that education and he chose to be in state service because he wanted to use his skills to help others," Cuomo said. "He made a fraction of what he could have earned. Just a beautiful guy."
Cuomo said this shooting hits close to home.
"I've been to too many funerals, I've seen too many bodies, I've dealt with too many parents crying, losing children," he said. "This brings it home in a personal way."
Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said Tuesday that Gabay was an "innocent victim." He said that investigators were focusing on two gangs whose members are well-known to police.
