Officer Escorting Vice President Joe Biden's Motorcade Injured In NYC Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A police officer has been injured in a crash while escorting Vice President Joe Biden's motorcade in New York.

The officer, who was on a motorcycle, had just come off the Triborough Bridge around 2:10 p.m. Friday when he crashed on the Grand Central Parkway while trying to navigate a turn at a high speed, sources told CBS2.

From the motorcade, the officer could be seen lying face down, with other officers around him assisting him.

The officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition with neck and back injuries, and a possible shoulder injury, sources said.

At the time of the incident, Biden was returning to LaGuardia Airport after spending two days in the city. He was briefed before taking off from the airport.

The Secret Service said it's looking into the incident.
