Kljestan Breaks Tie On Penalty Kick, Red Bulls Beat Chicago 3-2

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) -- Sacha Kljestan broke a tie on a penalty kick in the 71st minute and the New York Red Bulls beat the Chicago Fire 3-2 on Friday night to move into first place in the Eastern Conference.

The Fire took an early 2-0 lead. Kennedy Igboananike juked his defender at the edge of the box in the 13th minute, but was tripped up in the area. Jeff Larentowicz converted the penalty kick. In the 26th, Michael Stephens cleared a loose ball in the Fire's box and David Accam gathered it near midfield, beat a defender and cut back goalkeeper Luis Robles for an easy tap in.

Two minutes later, Bradley Wright-Phillips pulled New York (13-7-6) to 2-1 after poking a ball through traffic. Mike Grella evened it in the 38th with a deflected goal. Kljestan's penalty kick came after Lloyd Sam was taken down in the box by Stephens.

Chicago (7-15-6) is winless in 22 straight road games.
