Police Arrest Suspect In Attempted Rape On Staten Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect who police said tried to rape a woman on Staten Island has been arrested.
Police have charged 18-year-old Shahzaib Akbar with burglary and sex abuse.
He's accused of following a 20-year-old woman to her apartment last Tuesday near Dongan Avenue and Manor Road and forcing his way in.
Police said he sexually abused her and tried to rape her, but ran off when she screamed.They said he was seen on surveillance video in the area.
The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
