Police Hunt For Man Who Allegedly Robbed 2 Manhattan Banks In Less Than 30 Minutes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man robbed two West Village banks within a half-hour of each other Friday, police said.

The robber struck first at 2:54 p.m. at the Chase Bank branch at 340 Sixth Ave., cops said. He passed a note demanding cash and fled with the money, authorities said.

At 3:20 p.m., he robbed another Chase, at 204 W. Fourth St., police said. The suspect passed a threatening note and verbally demanded money before making off with $1,175, according to police.

The two banks are about four blocks apart.

The NYPD has released a surveillance photo of the suspect. He is described as black, about 52 years old, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 190 pounds. He was seen wearing white sneakers, a black hat and blue jeans.
