Two Men Wanted In Sex Assault Of Fordham University Student Remain At Large

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The search continues for two men who sexually assaulted a Fordham University student near the Bronx campus over the weekend.

The attack happened Saturday night after the 19-year-old woman left campus at Walsh Hall, according to an alert from Fordham Public Safety. The suspects allegedly grabbed her as she headed down a dark alley next to a Dunkin' Donuts on East Fordham Road.

One man held her arms behind her back while the other groped her and started unzipping his pants, police said.

Police believe the suspects were scared off when people approached the Dunkin' Donuts shop.

The victim immediately filed a police report following the assault and university leaders sent out a safety alert to all students, CBS2's Emily Smith reported.

The victim, police said, had just left campus at Walsh Hall and crossed the street into the alley. It's unclear where she was going, but students said it's a popular shortcut.

"I hope we can take precautions to make that not happen anymore," one student said

"I don't walk out that often alone without a group of friends at night, but overall it's a pretty safe area," another student said. "I go running at 8 at night around the outside of Fordham, not inside the gate and nothing has ever happened to me."

The school said police canvassed the area for evidence and may have gotten surveillance video from the Dunkin' Donuts, but it's unclear if the cameras captured any images of the suspects who are believed to be in their 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detective Barranger at the Bronx Special Victims Unit, at (718) 378-8921, or the Fordham Department of Public Safety At (718) 817-2222, where callers should ask for the duty supervisor.
