Police: Performer Punches Man Who Was Recording Him On E Train

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Monday for a street performer who allegedly punched a man on the E Train in Queens after he caught the man recording him.

Around 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, the 55-year-old victim was on an inbound E Train approaching Queens Plaza, when he began recording the street performers on the train, police said.

The suspect came up to the man and told him to turn off his phone and stop recording, police said.

The suspect then punched the man in the face, cutting his lip, police said. The suspect also spat on the man, police said.

The suspect left the train at Queens Plaza, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male between 18 and 25 years old, standing 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He had black hair, brown eyes and a thin build, and was last seen wearing a black and red Chicago Bulls hat, a white T-shirt, black sweat pants, and red gym shoes, police said.

Police released a photo of the suspect that was captured by the victim.
