Whitestone, Queens Woman Has Been Missing For More Than A Month
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A frantic search was under way in Queens Tuesday night for a missing wife and mother.
As CBS2's Dick Brennan reported, Maria Brabazon, 55, vanished from her neighborhood in Whitestone more than a month ago.
"It's just, you know, very mixed emotions," said "You try to focus on the positive, but in the back of your head, it's just, 'You know, my mom is missing, and I miss her, and I want her to see my daughter, and my son on the way," said her son, Peter Brabazon.
Brabazon's daughter, Christine, is also expecting a baby next month.
"I wish she was here for it," Christine said. "I was very excited, and we were all excited about it."
Brabazon was last seen on her neighbor's surveillance video on 14th Avenue, walking toward the intersection of 152nd Street, in Whitestone, Queens.
The family had moved there after their home in Massapequa was destroyed in Superstorm Sandy.
Her husband said that had caused her much stress.
"Sleepless nights -- just wracking our brains out trying to understand what has exactly happened," said her husband, also named Peter Brabazon.
Investigators said on the morning of Sept. 5, Brabazon got a summons for an expired inspection on 202nd Street near 19th and 21st Avenues.
She then had her car inspected at a gas station on Utopia Parkway, and after that she was seen at BJ's Warehouse in Whitestone.
"Nothing about this case makes any sense whatsoever," said the younger Peter Brabazon. "Every time we try to put a theory together, there's something that says that that can't be true."
Brabazon is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 125 pounds, and was wearing a white blouse and gray yoga pants.
"Maria, if you can hear us, we want to know that you are safe," said the elder Peter Brabazon."If you can communicate that to us, we all love you very much, and want you to come home"
