One Dead, Five Injured In Staten Island Blaze

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- One person was killed and five others were injured in a fire that swept through the second floor of a six-story building on Staten Island late Sunday night.

Crews were called in to a building at the Mariner's Harbor Houses public housing development just before midnight. A 37-year old man who lived in the apartment was found unresponsive and unconscious outside the building.

The man, identified as Caleb Wilder, was later pronounced dead at Richmond University Medical Center.

Five others -- one of whom was visiting from Delaware -- suffered minor injuries, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation late Monday.
