63-Year-Old Woman Assaulted In Union Square Park Bathroom

NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a suspect who assaulted a 63-year-old woman in a restroom in Union Square park on Sunday afternoon.

Police say a man believed to be in in his 30s, wearing a camouflage jacket, went into the bathroom and demanded sex from the woman. She refused and then there was a struggle.

The man fled after the woman bit him on the left hand. The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m.

A Bronx woman said she's shocked something like this would happen in broad daylight, and in such a public place, 1010 WINS' Darius Radzius reported.

"It's really sad and unfortunate because this is daylight," she said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition. The bathroom was closed for the remainder of the afternoon for police investigation.
