Police: Man Steals 40 Bags Of Frozen Shrimp From Hauppauge Supermarket

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island are trying to find a man who they said stole 40 bags of frozen shrimp from a supermarket in Hauppauge earlier this month.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. back on Oct. 5.

A man walked into a ShopRite on Nesconset Highway and took the bags of frozen shrimp, which were worth around $800, police said. He then fled in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee that was waiting outside, police said.

Police describe the suspect as a white man in his 20s, about 6-feet-tall with a medium build. He was wearing white and blue framed sunglasses and a blue hooded sweatshirt with 1-800-Chimney printed on the back.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
