Man Arrested In Staten Island Bus Stabbing

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Staten Island man has been arrested in the stabbing a 24-year-old man on a bus last week.

Franklin Bethea, 18, is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. It wasn't clear if Bethea had an attorney who could comment on the charges.

The New Brighton man stabbed the victim in the stomach, left armpit and hip on a S74 bus at the intersection of Broad and Canal streets in Stapleton last Tuesday after they got into an argument, police said. The fight was over a seat, sources told CBS2.

"There was a lot of blood. He was, like, gushing out blood," said witness Bobby Ray-Hart.

The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition.
