AG: 4 Smuggled Dozens Of Firearms Into NYC On Greyhound Buses
NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Four men have been charged in connection with a high-volume gun trafficking ring that is accused of smuggling firearms into New York City from the Carolinas and Tennessee.
Donovan Bryant, Shantae Blue, Marlon Mansell and Colby Inabinet allegedly smuggled dozens of firearms into New York City on Greyhound buses arriving through the Port Authority bus terminal, according to the criminal complaint.
The men then sold the guns to an undercover police officer at meet-up points in Williamsburg and East New York, according to a release.
Evidence collected though undercover work and wiretaps painted a vivid picture into how the gun ring operated. Bryant, of North Carolina, repeatedly texted one undercover officer, 'advertising' his newest items -- in one instance, a .357 magnum revolver -- according to the release.
Mansell, of Brooklyn, was arraigned alongside Bryant and Blue, of North Carolina, in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Thursday. There is still a warrant out for Inabinet.
Around 50 illegal guns were seized as part of the investigation, conducted as a partnership between the NYPD the Attorney General's Organized Crime Task Force.
