The Game 1 starter against the Royals is the "Dark Knight." Matt Harvey pitched great in the National League Championship Series. He suffered an arm injury against the Cubs, but he says he's ready to go.

It's been a roller-coaster ride for Harvey this season. Back in September, he caught some flak because his agent told the Mets to pitch him less to preserve his surgically repaired arm.

On Monday, he won the National League Comeback Player of the Year award. But that will all mean nothing when he takes the mound Tuesday night.

When manager Terry Collins asked Harvey if he was ready for it, Harvey said, "Damn right!"

"I don't think anything's really set in for us yet, which in our minds, I think, is a positive," Harvey told reporters, including CBS2's Otis Livingston, at media day Monday. "I think we still realize that it's a baseball game."

For the rest of the Amazin's, this is something they've dreamed about their entire lives: playing on the biggest stage, the World Series.

"When you're growing up, in October you see the World Series, and you always kind of imagine yourself being there," said second baseman Daniel Murphy. "And so to be able to make it is definitely very exciting."

"It's something that you dream about from a very young age," first baseman Lucas Duda said. "To be able to be here and be on this stage is definitely a blessing and very fortunate to be in this position."

"This is the ultimate," Collins said. "If you're a manager or a player, to play in this seeting -- it's hard to get here, so you've got to have some fun with it. As pressure packed as it might be, you've got to enjoy it."

Mets World Series fever caused a father and son combo to make the trip from Brooklyn, and they say it's about time.

"I'm tired of seeing the Yankees and every year turning the TV on, 'Yankees players this, Yankees players that,'" said Steven Magistro. "And finally, 'Mets, Mets, Mets.'"

"It's been a long time, and Mets have fans," said his dad, Paul Magistro. "They're coming out now. But I think it's going to be great for the city."

One of the teams' long World Series drought is about to end. The Mets last won it all in 1986, a year after the Royals won their only title.
