Cleanup Begins After Powerful Storm Hits Parts Of Tri-State Area

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Many across the Tri-State area will be cleaning up Thursday morning after a powerful storm brought down trees and power lines overnight.

In Queens, a massive tree uprooted, tearing apart the sidewalk before crashing on top of a home on 163rd Street by the Cross Island Parkway, CBS2's Ilana Gold reported.

Fortunately, the residents of the home were away at the time and no one was inside the house and no one was hurt.

Downed trees were also reported in parts of Long Island, though the extent of the damage is unclear.

The storm also left leaves scattered across many streets, making the roads slippery.

As the wet weather moves out of the area, the rest of Thursday will be windy and warm with the possibility of a spotty shower north and west of the city.
