LISTEN: Piazza Talks To Francesa About Subway Series, Noah's Approach And More

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Mets are in serious trouble.

After dropping the first two games of the World Series at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, the Fall Classic shifts to Citi Field on Friday night for Game 3.

Only one team in major league history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit, so the Amazin's need to win on Friday night to keep their championship hopes alive.

Flamethrower Noah Syndergaard will take the hill for New York, and Yordano Ventura will start for the Royals.

Mets legend Mike Piazza, who will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Friday night, joined Mike Francesa a few hours before first pitch. Instead of breaking down Game 3 and the rest of the series, the iconic catcher reminisced with the WFAN host.

The duo discussed, at length, the 2000 Subway Series -- which just so happened to be the Mets' last appearance in the World Series -- Piazza's success against the Yankees and some of his most memorable home runs.

The former slugger, who is rooting hard for his former organization, also provided an update on what he's doing to keep busy these days.

Before the interview concluded, Piazza gave his thoughts on how Syndergaard should approach the Royals, who are a tremendous fastball-hitting team and seem to always put the ball in play. In Games 1 and 2, the Kansas City hitters made life very difficult for Mets co-aces Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom.

First pitch for the first World Series game in Citi Field history is scheduled for 8:07 p.m.
