Fan Gets Tattoo Declaring New York Mets 2015 World Series Winners

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- File this under "it seemed like a good idea at the time."

New York Mets fan Josh Davis was so committed to his team that he got a tattoo declaring them the 2015 champions during the first game of the World Series against the Kansas City Royals.

"I watched the first pitch in the tattoo room as I was getting the tattoo finished," Davis, of Hackettstown, New Jersey, told 1010 WINS. "It was definitely nerve racking the whole time, it was pretty risky, but I had my faith, I kept my faith the whole way through."

Davis had the team logo with the caption "2015 World Champs" tattooed on his side. A friend later tweeted a photo of the tattoo, asking "Too soon?"

But even during the darkest hour, Davis didn't give up hope.

"Still have faith for the mets tonight lets gooo," he posted Sunday night, before the Mets lost it all in Game 5.

Davis said he'll leave the tattoo as is for now.

"A lot of people think I should keep it, and all my friends and family at least are not calling me an idiot like everybody else," Davis said. "I guess I proved to everyone my colors, but I was wrong."

Davis said if he decides to alter the tattoo, he'll add the other years that the Mets were in the World Series, with asterisks next to the years they didn't win.

"It would actually be factual and correct and still a tribute to the Mets and them going to the World Series," Davis said.
