Police: Threat Cancels Classes At Fort Greene High School

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Classes were canceled for the day at Catholic high school in Brooklyn after police said a threat was made.

The threat against Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Fort Greene was discovered Tuesday.

A student posted a message to Facebook that read "don't go to school tomorrow," police told CBS2.

The message has since bee removed.

Thee school was closed just after 7 a.m. Wednesday as a precaution.

"It was determined that given the nature of this threat, we should respond cautiously to secure the safety of our students," school president Brother Dennis Cronin told 1010 WINS.

School will be back in session Thursday.

A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday and charges against him are pending, according to a police spokesman.

Cronin said the suspect does not attend the school.
