NJ Prosecutors: Ex-Superintendent Torched Own Garage

HACKENSACK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A former school administrator from New Jersey is in the hospital after allegedly setting fire to his own garage.

David Browne, ex-superintendent of the Randolphs School District, used an accelerator to torch the structure at his home in Wyckoff, according to prosecutors.

Browne, 55, still remains hospitalized at the Hackensack University Medical Center after the Oct. 13 incident.

Brown resigned from his superindendent post on Oct. 27, following a 30-day medical leave, which began on Sept. 8.

Browne became superintendent in July 2011 and earned $167,500 a year.
