21-Year-Old Woman Grazed By Bullet Outside Hookah Lounge In Flatiron District

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for four men who are suspected in a shooting that injured a woman early Tuesday morning in the Flatiron district.

It happened around 2 a.m. at West 28th near Broadway.

The 21-year-old woman was waiting for her boyfriend outside the Pergola bar and hookah lounge when she heard a group arguing followed by gunfire.

She ran toward Broadway and into the NoMad Hotel for help, and that's when she realized she'd been grazed in the leg, CBS2's Janelle Burrell reported.

"It's very busy at nighttime; there's a lot of cars, fancy cars and everything out there," said Julio Ferreira, a superintendent of a nearby building. "A lot of bad things happen around here, shootings sometimes and stuff like that, but around here, this block, I've never seen before like somebody got shot."

Police said four men in their 20s were seen fleeing the area in a black SUV.

Investigators have been going door to door, stopping in all the businesses on the block and looking surveillance video of the four suspects, Burrell reported.

The victim is being treated at Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive.
