Police Probe Rash Of Fires Since Late October In Forest Hills, Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Thursday night were investigating a rash of residential fires in and around Forest Hills, Queens.
There have been six instances recently of structures being destroyed by fire in the neighborhood, and one even gutted a neighboring home.
Officials said they have a video of a man going into one of the buildings right before the fire began.
The fires broke out between Oct. 20 and this past Tuesday, police sources told CBS2.
The first broke out on Oct. 20 at a home on 113th Street, sources said.
The next broke out on Nov. 8 on 112th Street, at a construction site where police believe an accelerant was used to fuel the fire, sources said.
The Nov. 8 fire spread to a neighboring home on 68th Road, which was vacant and under renovation at the time, sources said.
Fires also broke out on Nov. 10 on 67th Road, this past Sunday on 69th Road, Monday on Woodhaven Boulevard, and Tuesday on 66th Avenue, sources said.
The latest fire rose to two alarms, and investigators said a man was seen entering the construction site, sources said.
