Cops: Man Punches Therapy Dog, Medical Resident On Subway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man has been arrested after punching a medical resident and a pit bull therapy dog while on the subway, according to police.

Herman Williams, 48, demanded that the man move his pit bull away from him while traveling on the No. 4 train in the Bronx, according to NYPD Transit Chief Joseph Fox.

Williams then punched the dog in the head, and swung at the 30-year-old medical student, knocking out three of the man's teeth, authorities said.

The conductor pulled the train's whistle to alert police, who arrested Williams at the subway platform.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

It wasn't clear if Williams had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
