Cops: Man Shot Ex-Girlfriend, New Lover Before Taking His Own Life

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police said a man has fatally shot himself after first shooting an ex-girlfriend and her male companion in Brooklyn.

It happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday in the borough's East Flatbush neighborhood at East 91st Street and Clarkson.

Police said they believe the suspected gunman shot his former girlfriend, age 33, and her current boyfriend, age 44, while they sat together in a car, CBS2's Valerie Castro reported

"I just heard the gunshots at first, probably like at least 8 or 9," witness Michaela Bascomb said.

They said the man then crossed the street and shot himself.

Police said the man who shot himself and the other man have been declared dead. The woman was in stable condition at Kings County Hospital, according to police.

Earlier in the day, surveillance video captured the couple at a local bodega, using the ATM inside.

Police didn't disclose the identities of the people.
