Crews Repairing Water Main Break In Fort Lee, NJ

FORT LEE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Crews from SUEZ Water are working to repair another water main break, this time in Fort Lee.

The break happened around 5 a.m. Friday at Central Road and Hoyt Avenue near a ramp to the George Washington Bridge. Video from the scene showed water shooting 40 to 50 feet into the air.

"There are no customers that are involved," the company's Steve Goodsmith told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck. "One building that was originally affected has been fed water from a second feed."

Officials said drivers should expect traffic disruptions in the area. Repairs are expected to be completed sometime in the afternoon.

Crews have been kept busy fixing water main breaks in north Jersey in recent weeks.

The most recent one happened Monday when an 8-inch main broke around midnight on Monroe Street between First and Second streets in Hoboken.

The city had seen two water main breaks and a valve failing in just over a week. Those breaks flooded streets and left many residents and businesses without running water for days.
