Police: Suspect Arrested In Kips Bay Housing Development Rape Attempt

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted rape of a woman in a public housing building in Kips Bay.

Dominique Frazier, 31, faces attempted rape, robbery and criminal sex act charges, police said.

The incident happened around noon on Thanksgiving.

Police said Frazier forced a 48-year-old woman into the 17th floor stairwell in the Straus Houses building, forced her to perform a sexual act and then attempted to rape her.

When the woman resisted, Frazier grabbed the woman's purse and ran down the stairwell, police said. The victim then chased him to the lobby and got her purse back with the help of a male witness, police said.

Frazier fled into an elevator in the lobby, police said.

The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center where she was treated and released, police said.
