Woman Struck, Killed By MTA Bus In Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was struck and killed by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn late Monday afternoon.

Police were called around 5:55 p.m. to Avenue Z and East 17th Street in Brooklyn, after the 62-year-old woman was struck by a B36 bus, police said. The bus had been headed east on Avenue Z and struck the woman as its driver made a left turn onto East 17th Street, police said.

The woman had been crossing East 17th Street at the time, police said.

The woman was found unconscious and unresponsive with head trauma at the scene, police said. She was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The woman was identified as Eleonora Shulkina of Brooklyn, police said late Monday.

The bus driver stayed at the scene following the accident, police said.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
