NJ School District To Go All Digital With Two Virtual School Days
HILLSDALE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- You're probably familiar with the concept of working from home, but what about schooling from home?
As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, for two days in February, students in the Pascack Valley Regional High School District will be able to go to school, without actually going to school.
"Teachers will be meeting students digitally or online," explained Superintendent Erik Gundersen.
Gundersen told Haskell he feels the school system needs to evolve with the times.
"Schools these days look very different from when what school looked like when we went to school and when the parents went to school," he said.
Part of the program is about learning how the world really works.
"By giving the students the opportunity to go ahead and have this experience, it really prepares them well for a college environment," said Gundersen.
This isn't the first time the school district has gone all digital. Pascack Valley High School held a virtual school day last February after getting hit with a snow storm.
Park Ridge is among other New Jersey school districts that are trying virtual classrooms.
