NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Mets fans are happy that Bartolo Colon -- arguably the most fun and entertaining player in all of baseball -- will return to Queens in 2016.

His teammates are pretty stoked, too.

On Christmas Eve, Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard posted a picture on Instagram of his large family all wearing "Big Sexy" shirts with Colon's face on them.

Colon, who signed a one-year, $7.25 million contract with New York on December 16, is expected to begin the season as the Mets' fifth starter. He joins a star-studded staff that includes Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Syndergaard and Steven Matz.

When Zack Wheeler returns -- likely in June or July -- after missing all of 2015 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, the Mets will either shift to a six-man rotation or Colon will be moved to the bullpen.

Colon will also be available to make spot starts if a starter gets injured or needs rest.

Colon, 42, went 14-13 with a 4.16 ERA for New York in 2015.
