Replica Windmill Atop Iconic Long Branch, N.J. Hot Dog Stand Collapses
LONG BRANCH, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A replica windmill detached from a well-known hot dog stand in Long Branch, New Jersey and crashed to the ground Monday night.
The Dutch-style windmill detached at the WindMill restaurant, at Ocean and Brighton avenues in Long Branch.
Photos posted to Facebook by Thomas A. Siciliano III showed the blades of the windmill lying against the hot dog stand building, angled over the sidewalk in front.
Long Branch police did not know whether the cause was related to the harsh weather Monday night. There were no injuries.
The blades of the windmill were damaged in Superstorm Sandy, and were undergoing replacement just this past October, according to an Asbury Park Press article shared on the blog for the hot dog stand.
