2 Boys Charged In Medford, L.I. Pizza Deliveryman Robbery

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Suffolk County have arrested two boys in the robbery of a pizza deliveryman in Medford late Friday.

The 22-year-old Coram man was delivering pizza to a home at 8 Dunbar Ave. in Medford around 8:45 p.m. Friday, when he was approached by five assailants, police said.

The victim dropped the pizza and tried to run off, but a struggle ensued, police said.

The victim was able to get in his car and drive away, police said.

Sixth Precinct and Canine Section officers were sent to the scene, and Canine Section Officer Kenneth O'Brien and his dog, Dodge, found a vehicle with the suspects inside on Granny Road in Medford, police said.

Two suspects were arrested. Joel Elam, 17, of Medford and a juvenile male were each charged with robbery, police said.

Elam was to be arraigned Saturday at Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip.
