Should He Stay Or Should He Go? Giants Fans Weigh In On Coughlin's Future

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Should he stay or should he go?

Giants fans are weighing in on coach Tom Coughlin's future as many speculate if he will be fired after the season.

"Tom Coughlin had a good run, that's it," one fan at Brady's on Second Avenue told 1010 WINS' Samantha Liebman.

"He's a good coach but whatever they're doing isn't working," said another fan.

But others said the 69-year-old coach deserves a second chance.

"He needs to adjust his coaching a little bit, but I don't think we need to fire him," another fan said.

Coughlin has been deflecting the questions for weeks and on Thursday sidestepped a direct question on whether he wanted to come back for a 13th season.

"Do I want to come back?'' Coughlin said. "I don't know if that's a great question right now. What I want to do is win a game on Sunday, that's the bottom line for this group right now. I always have the competitive spirit. Sometimes it takes me a day or two to figure it all out when it's over. Right now, let's stick with the game and let's go win a football game.''

There has been rampant speculation about Coughlin's future in the past month as the Giants (6-9) stumbled toward the end of the season. The Giants now have three losing seasons in a row and they have not made the playoffs four straight years.

Coughlin has been in New York for 12 years and won two of the most memorable Super Bowls in history.

"You had your time, you had a couple Super Bowls, but like the whole, 'what have you done for me lately' thing, it's not there," another fan said.

If he wins Sunday against the Eagles, he'll move into 11th place all-time for coaching wins with 171, one behind the legendary Bill Parcells.
