Rail Problems Snag Multiple Subway Lines Between Manhattan, Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A rail problem at Queensboro Plaza left commuters stranded in the bitter cold during the late afternoon rush Tuesday.
Subway service between Manhattan and Queens was virtually at a standstill on several lines due to the rail condition at Queensboro Plaza, as well as a second problem at Fifth Avenue-59th Street.

Crowds of people were seen waiting for shuttle buses as an alternative.
The N Train was halted between 57th Street-Seventh Avenue and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard in both directions, and the Q Train was out of service between Times Square-42nd Street and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard.
Other lines were also affected. Southbound R Trains were running on the F Line between 36th Street in Queens and West 4th Street in Manhattan, and then on the D Line to DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn.
Southbound N trains are running on the R line from Canal Street to DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn.
Delays were reported in both directions on the B, D, F, N, Q, and R trains.
All lines were back in service by 6:35 p.m., but southbound R trains were still being rerouted and delays were still expected.
Repairs were completed and service was restored back to normal a little after 8:45 p.m.
