Officials: 1 Dead, 3 injured After Car Falls Through Ice At Conn. Park

UNION, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- One woman died and three others were injured after their vehicle fell through ice on a pond in Connecticut park.

According to state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Emily Blouin, 18, of Southbridge, Massachusetts, died late Tuesday evening at Rockville Hospital.

The car's driver, 20-year-old Justin Mcallise, and two other passengers, 22-year-old Hunter Bibeau and 20-year-old Lisa Tirado, all of Southbridge, were treated at Hartford Hospital and released.

Authorities say the car traveled about 50 yards onto the ice on a pond at Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union before falling through at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The Tolland County Dive Team rescued the four occupants.

Authorities say it appears the group illegally entered the park after dark.

A streak of strong winds and freezing temperatures has swept through the Tri-State area and up into Connecticut, making bodies of water susceptible to freezing. There is currently a wind advisory in effect for the state until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
