Report: Nets Interested In Former Toronto, Phoenix GM Colangelo
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One intriguing name has emerged in the Brooklyn Nets' search for a new general manager.
According to ESPN, the Nets are interested in former Toronto Raptors and Phoenix Suns general manager Bryan Colangelo to replace Billy King, who has been reassigned within the organization.

Sources told ESPN the new general manager would then pursue the top available coaching candidates, including former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau and ex-Warriors coach Mark Jackson. Brooklyn fired coach Lionel Hollins on Sunday. Tony Brown is serving as interim head coach.
Colangelo, 50, spent 11 seasons as Phoenix's general manager and seven years in Toronto. He was voted NBA Executive of the Year in 2004-05 with the Suns and 2006-07 with the Raptors.
He is the son of Jerry Colangelo, the former owner of the Suns and current chairman of basketball operations for the 76ers. The younger Colangelo has been working as a consultant since leaving Toronto in 2013.
Whoever takes over the Nets will face some challenges in rebuilding the roster. Because of the 2013 trade for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry, the Nets still owe the Celtics their 2016 and 2018 first-round draft picks plus the right to swap slots in the 2017 draft.
The team, however, is expected to have about $40 million in salary cap space this offseason.
