1010 WINS Interview: Entertainment Icon Carol Burnett Talks Upcoming 'Hawaii Five-0' Appearance

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Hollywood legend Carol Burnett is making a special return appearance on the CBS hit 'Hawaii Five-0' Friday night.

This will be Burnett's third appearance as Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett's Aunt Deb.

On Thursday, Burnett sat down with 1010 WINS' Jon Belmont to discuss her life, legacy and, of course, her upcoming return to 'Hawaii Five-0.'

Burnett said even after all of these years, she still doesn't consider it work.

"I consider it having fun, and I don't want to just sit. That's not my nature," she said.

Burnett said to keep busy, she's doing a one-woman show that's all question and answer, much like she used to do with the audience on the 'The Carol Burnett Show.'

"I go out and do about 90 minutes of just random Q&A," she said. "And really, it's terrific for me because it keeps the old brain matter ticking...you have to be on your toes because I never know what everybody's going to ask."

As for the comedy icon's role in 'Hawaii Five-0,' Burnett said rather than playing the wacky aunt, she is more like a mother figure to McGarrett.

"She's just a good old gal. They have a great relationship, it's almost like a mother-son relationship," she said.

This being her third appearance on the show, Burnett said working with the cast is "absolutely terrific."

"I used to live in Hawaii for a short while and there is such a thing as the aloha spirit," she said. "And the cast and crew couldn't be nicer."

So what will Aunt Deb be up to in Friday night's episode? She's going on a special, personal mission. Related to what? You'll have to tune in to CBS2 at 9 p.m. to find out.
