Rangers Sign Forward Daniel Paille

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP)The New York Rangers have signed veteran forward Daniel Paille.

General manager Jeff Gorton announced the signing of the 10-year veteran Thursday. Paille has played in 31 games with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, collecting a goal and three assists.

He has played 570 NHL games over parts of 10 seasons with Buffalo and Boston, registering 85 goals and 87 assists, In six seasons with the Bruins (2009-15), he had 50 goals and 45 assists, helping Boston win the Stanley Cup in 2010-11. He had six goals and seven assists in 71 games with the Bruins last season.

An Ontario native, Paille was childhood friends with Rangers alternate captain Dan Girardi and played against Rick Nash as a kid.

"I can't really describe how much excitement I have in me," Paille told BlueshirtsUnited.com about signing with the Rangers. "It's really something special for me to have the opportunity to play here; and it's a comfortable spot, too, for me to prove myself again."

The 31-year-old Paille was originally selected by Buffalo in the first round, 20th overall, of the 2002 NHL draft.
