1/31 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon! Much warmer temps this afternoon than yesterday as we climb into the upper 40s and low 50s around the region. Expect a high of 49 in the city with a mix of sun and clouds. As we close out January, our mild winter continues with today being the first of several above-normal days this week.

More clouds overnight with temps only dropping into the low 40s in Central Park. Tomorrow will be even warmer, climbing into the low 50s. Clouds will continue to rule with some scattered showers during the afternoon as a cold front approaches. Definitely not a washout, but grab the umbrella for after school.

We drop back into the upper 40s for Tuesday with plenty of sun for Groundhog Day. Spring-like temps then arrive Wednesday, with some southern areas breaking 60! This comes with rain and wind though, maybe even a rumble of thunder.

Temps return to more seasonable levels by week's end with a system off the coast. It's still up in the air whether this will move close enough to bring some snow showers on Friday. Right now it looks to stay southeast, but we'll track it for you. Have a good one!
