NYPD Lieutenant Stabbed In Arm In Brooklyn; Suspect In Custody

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - An NYPD lieutenant was stabbed in the arm Monday morning in Brooklyn, police said.

The lieutenant was on duty when he was attacked around 11:20 a.m. at 145 East 18th St. in Ditmas Park.

The lieutenant was stabbed in the forearm with a kitchen knife while responding to a call of an emotionally disturbed person, police told WCBS 880.

The 44-year-old woman, armed with a kitchen knife, stabbed the responding NYPD lieutenant in the arm as he entered her apartment, CBS2's Hazel Sanchez reported. The woman was tased and taken into custody.

The lieutenant was rushed in Kings County Hospital, where he is said to be in good condition. He received five stitches for his wound and was sent home.

The female suspect is under arrest and observation at Maimonides Hospital, officials said.

One neighbor said the suspect moved onto his floor about a year ago, and seemed harmless. But now he said he was naive thinking nothing bad could ever happen close to home.

"I just thought it was crazy -- never thought it was going to happen in my building, " he said. "...It's a nice neighborhood."
