Mets Deal OF Ceciliani To Blue Jays For Cash

TORONTO (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Mets have traded reserve outfielder Darrell Ceciliani to the Toronto Blue Jay for cash considerations.

The 25-year-old hit .206 with one home and five steals in 68 at-bats as a rookie last year. He batted .345 with 19 doubles, four triples, nine homers and 16 steals in 70 games with Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League.

A fourth-round selection in the 2009 amateur draft, Ceciliani was designated for assignment Jan. 27 to clear a roster spot when the Mets finalized their $75 million, three-year contract with Yoenis Cespedes.

The trade was announced Tuesday.
