Police: Westchester Woman Had 650 Bags Of Heroin, Worth $36G

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A suburban New York woman has been charged after police say they found 650 bags of heroin in her possession valued at $36,000.

Police say they arrested Alexis Mitchell of Yorktown Heights as she sat in her car in a Yorktown parking lot on Tuesday.

Police say they found 563 glassine bags of heroin in her possession. After obtaining a search warrant, police say another 91 glassine bags of heroin were found in her home, the Journal News reported. Four other people also were arrested.

Mitchell was arraigned on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. She was jailed on $5,000 cash bond.

It's not immediately clear if she has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.

Last week, around 100 pounds of heroin was found stashed away in the bed of a truck driving in Elmhurst, Queens. Officials said it was "one of the biggest heroin seizes ever in the City of New York."
