Dennis Rodman To Knicks: Hire Me As Head Coach
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- When Phil Jackson made his first coaching hire as Knicks president, he turned to one of his former players, Derek Fisher.
Could Jackson again turn to another of his ex-pupils, Dennis Rodman?
Less than an hour after the Knicks fired Fisher on Monday, Rodman took to Twitter to lobby for the job.
"Hey @PhilJackson11 @nyknicks, I have a pretty decent resume on the court and I can coach; and I'm available," the colorful bad boy wrote. "Call me."
Rodman and Jackson won three NBA titles together with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.
Of course, Rodman, who has no coaching experience, is a long shot to receive any serious consideration for the Knicks job. Since his playing career ended, he's been involved in acting, pro wrestling, launching his own brand of vodka and palling around with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
More serious names being floated in the media as possible successors to Fisher include Tom Thibodeau, Luke Walton, Brian Shaw and Mark Jackson.
